CitizenShipper joins tech incubator Capitol Factory

CitizenShipper announced this week it has joined prestigious tech incubator Capitol Factory. Located in downtown Austin, TX, Capitol Factory allows web-based companies to connect with mentors, technologists, and ideas under one roof.

Capitol Factory has partnered with tech giants Google, AT&T and several other companies. It has also hosted President Obama, Sen. Ted Cruz and recently contracted with presidential hopeful Sen. Rand Paul, who will be building campaign tech teams in both Austin and San Francisco.

During the 2015 South By Southwest (SXSW) Festival, Capitol Factory had visits by Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker and Sen. Jason Chaffetz as well as several other congressman.

Founded in 2008 by Chief Innovation Officer Josh Baer, Capitol Factory provides access to meetups, networking opportunities, and high profile events for thousands of entrepreneurs, engineers and designers each year. In 2013, it hosted more than 500 events and 23,000 visitors at its offices.

“We are a diverse ecosystem that comes together to grow new companies,” Capitol Factory’s website states. “We invest intellectual, social, human, and real capital to create new jobs and new advantages.”

CitizenShipper CEO Richard Obousy said he was pleased with the move and looks forward to seeing the online shipping company grow.

“We’re very happy to be accepted by Capitol Factory and look forward everything they offer,” he said. “They have a great track record of helping companies in the sharing economy and are a great fit for CitizenShipper.”
